How does the Student Hub work?

Everything you need to know about finding your details, timetable, and digital ID.

What is the GCC Student Hub?

The GCC IT Student Hub is a secure online portal built for students in the IT Department at Gauteng City College. It lets you look up your own student information instantly using your ID or passport number. No login or password needed.

You can find your registered course, year of study, group assignment, academic results, class timetable, and your personal QR code for lecturer verification. All in one place.

Your student QR code

After searching, a personal QR code is automatically generated for you. This acts as your digital student card for the IT Department.

  1. 1 Your QR code appears below your student details after a successful search.
  2. 2 Show it to your lecturer at the start of class or during group verification.
  3. 3 Download it as a PNG image to save on your phone, or print it for a physical copy.
  4. 4 When scanned, the QR links directly to your verified student record.

Viewing your DP results

If Mr Owami has captured your results, they will appear directly on your student card after you search. Here's what the different result labels mean:

  1. % A percentage (e.g. 72%). Your mark has been captured and confirmed.
  2. ? "Not yet resulted". The assessment has been written but marks are not yet released.

Results shown here are for subjects taught by Mr Owami only. Other subjects may appear through other systems provided by your college.

Frequently asked questions

Double-check that you are entering your full ID number without spaces or dashes. If you use a passport, enter the full passport number exactly as it appears. If you still get no result, your details may not yet have been added to the system. Speak to Mr Owami directly or visit the college IT office.
Yes. The system only looks up your own record and displays it to you. Nothing is saved in your browser, and the data is read-only. It cannot be altered through the portal. Only authorised administrators can manage the student data.
You cannot edit your own details through the portal. Please approach Mr Owami (your IT lecturer) in class or contact the IT Department office to request a correction. Bring your student card or ID document as proof.
Timetable buttons appear for students whose course and group have an assigned timetable PDF. If your course is Graphic Design or End User Computing (1st year), a timetable PDF may not be available yet. Check back later or ask your lecturer.
Yes. The Student Hub is fully mobile-friendly. You can look up your details, view your timetable, and download or show your QR code directly from your smartphone. You can also add it to your home screen like an app for quick access.
The GCC IT Student Hub was designed and built by Mr Owami, an IT Lecturer at Gauteng City College, and is powered by Brelinx. It was created to make student information more accessible and reduce administrative back-and-forth.
